Week 14 - Skins Results & Change in 1st Half Qualifying Team
There were 17 players in the Skins Game for Monday and Tuesday this week for a total purse of $85.00.
The final week of TGL Skins Play resulted in two winners. The first, Thang Bernard, who had been a frequent winner throughout the year, will take home a little extra winnings on Friday at the tournament due to his birdie on hole # 3. This hole is the more difficult of the two par 5's on the course but, surprisingly, did yield several skins this year.
The other winner of a skin in our final week is a player who waited the entire season to break into the winner's circle, Ben Gongora. Ben birdied hole # 6. Birdies on hole # 6 have been very attainable this year but do not always result in a skin due to often multiple birdies from the high caliber of competition within our ranks.
Once again the winners are:
Hole # 3 - Thang Bernard with a BIRDIE - $42.00
Hole # 6 - Ben Gongora with a BIRDIE - $42.00
Total Winnings = $84.00 (out of $85.00 total)
Congratulations to all Skins Winners this year!
Change in 1st Half Qualifying Team
Unfortunately, due to other committments, Jonathan Rumble of first half qualifying team Two Stroke Penalty, cannot play in the tournament this Friday. Though Tim McLaughlin will be playing in his place, under TGL Rule 8.a.ii, also known as the Acosta Rule, Jonathan cannot have a substitute play for him as part of the championship flight at the tournament.
As such, the team in line with the next highest number of points in the first half will take the place of Two Stroke Penalty as a qualifying team for the TGL Championship. With a total of 45 points, that team is The Tree Stooges comprised of Rodney Porter and Grant Lundstrom.
Jonathan was a consistent player this year and we hope to see him back in 2012.
Congratulations to The Tree Stooges, and all the best to everyone tomorrow!!!

Week 14 - Second Half Final Results
Several good teams missed qualifying by just a few strokes. But if "a putt saved is a playoff earned," then the following teams did what they had to do in the second half to qualify for this year's championship:
| Monday Qualifiers | Tuesday Qualifiers | |||
| Putt 4 Dough |
48.5 | 1 1/2 Turns |
54.5 | |
| Birdies, Bogies & Beer | 44.0 | Hicks with Sticks |
45.0 | |

The last time Richard Wang and Prince Tolentino of Putt 4 Dough qualified for the championship was in 2009. But they have already improved on their showing in 2010 by making an incredible comeback to qualify this year. They weren't discouraged after starting out in last place with a goose egg in week 8. They remained at the bottom of the pack for most of the second half before vaulting to the top of the heap with well-played rounds in the last two weeks.
An honorable mention has to go out to John Jenkins and Sergio Gutierrez of Teed Off. They held the number one position for five weeks before a bad outing in week 14 saw them finish tied for third place. After coming so close, they must be......okay, I won't say it.
Birdies, Bogies & Beer made up of veteran, Michaele Long, and new comer, Sergio Davila, stayed in the top half of the standings since week 8. Credit the beer for them stumbling into a qualifying position. All kidding aside, my hat's off to my partner Michaele and to Sergio who took my place this year.
Frank Acosta and Michael Klein of 1 1/2 Turns made a move in week 13 and never looked back, finishing comfortably ahead of the teams that were contending for most of the second half. Hard to believe they finished so strong since I hear Frank is down to about a quarter turn now.
Last but not least, our returning champions, Steve Castro and Dan Pearson of Hicks With Sticks, managed to qualify to defend their title after being beaten AGAIN by both Bruce Le and Sopheap Srun of Short Game Gurus in week 14. I sense a great rivalry here--one that may play itself out at the tournament.
Points Championship
Congratulations to the following teams for winning the points championship this year:
| Monday - Winning Team | Tuesday - Winning Team | |||
| The Bunker Boys | 93.5 | SGG (Short Game Gurus) | 105.5 | |
The Bunker Boys, Randy Day and John Morton, held off Jonathan Rumble and Thang Bernard of Two Stroke Penalty by 1.5 points while SGG ran away with the Tuesday title in one of the best "total points" finishes ever.
I'd like to thank everyone for making the most of the league and coming out to play or sending subs when you could not make it. Congratulations to you all and good luck to everyone at the tournament!!!
David
